●《2月例会のお知らせ》●

2707 East First Street Los Angeles, CA 900332月定例会では、Office of Clients” Rights AdvocacyでClients’ Rights AdvocateをされているEva Casas-Sarmientoさんをお招きし、 最近施行された（または今後施行される）リージョナルセンターのサービスに関わる法律の変更点についてお話していただきます。




非常に興味深い内容を通訳つきで伺えますので、多くの皆さんに是非参加していただければと思います。






具体的な内容としては：




・　英語を理解するのが難しいファミリーへ、IPP(IFSP)の書類をそれぞれの言語に 翻訳してもらう権利が確立された。




・　2016年4月より、Medi-Cal managed care対象者のクライアントに対し、 行動療法のサービスの提供を停止する。




・　2016年2月より、IHSSのサービスプロバイダーは、週40時間以上の労働に対し、 オーバータイムが支払われる。




・　家族と同居している成人したクライアントに対し、independent living skillのサービスを自宅にて受けることができるようになった。




・　2015年12月より、リージョナルセンターは、人種や障がい、居住先別に、予算がどのように 使用されているかを公表する。また2016年1月～3月には、すべてのリージョナルセンターにて どうしてこの情報公開の理由やどのようにしたらアジア人やラテン系等のマイノリティのクライアントに対する サービスが向上できるか等を話し合うパブリックミーティングを開く。

I obtained my bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and my juris doctorate from Loyola Law School.  My entire legal career of 20 years has been as a disability rights lawyer.  The first half of my career focused on the rights of persons with psychiatric disabilities.  The second half has focused on the rights of persons with developmental disabilities – first as a Client’s Rights Advocate for consumers of the Regional Center of Orange County and now for consumers of Harbor Regional Center.  My focus is always on promoting self-advocacy and helping my clients achieve the most independent and productive life possible in the least restrictive environment.  I also always incorporate lots of outreach and training in my practice with a special emphasis on outreach to traditionally underserved communities of color.  My family members with disabilities inspired me to pursue this area of law and my clients continue to motivate me and reward me with career satisfaction on a daily basis.
